Chester-based boutique hotel announces second North West site

ODDFELLOWS, which operates under The Chester Grosvenor brand, has announced plans for a second site with the acquisition of nearby Bruntwood Hall, in Cheadle, South Manchester.

Oddfellows On The Park will be a 23-bedroom hotel, with a bar, restaurant, treatment rooms and event space, set in the grounds of Bruntwood Park, which has over 100 acres of sprawling parkland including ponds, waterways and mature woodlands.

“It had to be a property with character”, said Sarah Dougherty, Managing Director of The Chester Grosvenor. “Oddfellows is well known for its quirky design spin on a beautiful period property – and we wanted our second property to do the same.

We love adding vibrancy to a period property that has lost its lustre, but still retains all of its charm. This beautiful mansion had everything we were looking for.”

Jonathan Slater, managing director of Oddfellows, said: “We didn’t want to just imitate the success we have had with Oddfellows, Chester. It is important to us that Oddfellows grows and develops as a brand, not as a cookie cutter business model, but with both sites retaining their own personalities and characters – with relevance to their location and history.

The original Lower Bridge Street business was the first hotel in Chester to launch the concept of serviced apartments earlier in 2014, and is known for its unique and eclectic interior design.

Architect Tim Groom has been appointed to transform the historic property, which will be the first time that the building has been used as a hotel, having previously been a town hall, a racehorse stud farm and more recently a filming facility.
